AADLAND MARKETING CAPTURES COMMUNICATIONS AWARD FOR
DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS RECRUITMENT CAMPAIGN

ANCHORAGE ,Alaska., August 21, 2006 – AADLAND Marketing, an integrated communications firm serving Alaska and the Pacific Northwest, has won an award in the prestigious “Telly” Awards national competition. A Bronze Award was garnered for a marketing campaign for The State of Alaska, Department of Corrections that had a specific goal to boost recruitment efforts, and increase applicants for available positions within the department.

The campaign began in the spring of 2005, with the theme, “Join our Team – Make a Difference Everyday.” The campaign elements included a marketing and sales promotional element for use in trade and career fairs, as well as an expanded radio and television campaign that was targeted to all major rural and urban markets in the State. Unique to this effort was an internal survey administered to all employees within the department seeking insights and opinions from the DOC staff about how best to communicate the department’s strengths and services.   Featuring actual DOC employees in the television and radio campaign added authenticity to the message and provided a convincing invitation for prospective recruits to apply online at the DOC website, http://www.alaskacorrections.com.

Marc Antrim, Commissioner of the Department of Corrections commented, “Results from this campaign boosted our recruiting activity and applicants applying online significantly, with over 400 applications coming in during the spring recruitment period.   This boost in recruitment is a necessity for the department as we plan for employee turnover and retirements in the next few years.  I am also pleased that the recruitment campaign resulted in an increase in the department’s employee morale and our image in the State.”

Gregory Galik, President of Aadland Marketing, was Strategy and Creative Director for the campaign.   Galik stated,” This campaign was a first for us working with the Department of Corrections.   We are honored to be recognized for this campaign at the national level of competition, however, more satisfying is that we’ve had a specific measurable impact on improving recruiting efforts for the department.”

“These competitions add to the strong reputation we’re building in providing measurable and successful marketing programs,” Galik said. Over the past twenty-five years, AADLAND Marketing has become increasingly active in supporting the branding, marketing and advertising programs of numerous corporate clients. Award programs such as this one enable our efforts to be judged according to the prevailing standards of excellence in the industry.”
